Brendan Lynch Scholarship

The Brendan Lynch Scholarship was established in 2018 and is a partnership between Donore Credit Union & Griffith College Dublin.

It was established based on the findings in our "Social Return on Investment" report which was published in 2020.

Grew membership of the Credit Union by 6% to 4,776.

Issued 1,530 new loans totalling €5.8 million andOffered nine types of loan products ranging from €100 to €150,000.

Organised some 20 prize draws, supported 16 community groups.

Aingil Ni Bhroin Scholarship

Aingil and her sister Treasa were the driving force behind the establishment of Ireland's First Credit Union here in the Liberties, Dublin 8. It was their courage and vision in 1958 that laid the foundation for the nationwide credit union movement.

Social Return On Investment Study

In 2020, Donore Credit Union was the first credit union in Ireland to conduct a social return on investment study. This study continues to be at the forefront of national discussions about ascertaining the social value of credit unions which has resulted in additional social return studies of Irish credit unions being published in 2022 & 2023.
