Solar panels require minimal maintenance. With occasional cleaning and regular inspections, they can last for 25 years or more.
Even after 30 years, solar panels will still generate energy, but at a less efficient rate.

Solar panels can increase property value by making homes more energy-efficient and increasing the BER rating. Homes with solar panels often attract buyers looking for long-term savings on utility bills and tend to sell for higher.

There are SEAI grants available for solar panels. Grants are paid on a pro rata basis e.g. for a 2.5kWp system the grant value would be €1,725. See more on the SEAI website.

Irish homeowners are eligible to sell their surplus solar electricity to the grid. Prices for exported electricity are negotiated between electricity suppliers and consumers.
