In Spring 2023, Donore Credit Union established the Donore Area Sustainable Community (DASC) which is a registered Sustainable Energy Community (SEC).
DASC is a Community Group dedicated to playing its part in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving the quality of the natural environment in our local area. The Sustainable Energy Communities (SEC) is a funding and support programme, which helps communities to work together to become energy-smart and more sustainable. In doing so, Sustainable Energy Communities aim to use less energy by improving efficiency withing the community.
A SEC can include a range of different energy users in the community such as individual households, sports clubs, community centres, local businesses, religious establishments and more.
What we aim to do
- Add more greenery to the area and make our community even more pleasant.
- Help and encourage individual homes, local businesses, community organisations and similar establishments to make their buildings more energy efficient.
- Keeping the area clean.
- Encouraging local schools to participate in sustainable initiatives including measuring air pollution, organising cycle buses and planting wildflowers.
The Donore Area Sustainable Community Committee currently consists of 18 members from various groups and organisations including:
- Donore Credit Union
- Aloft Dublin City
- Griffith College
- Tenters
- Maryland
- Trees of Tenters
We are currently looking for people in the local area to join the DASC Committee to share their ideas and expertise with us.
