Nominations
Remember to submit a Nomination when joining!
Credit union members aged 16 or older can nominate someone to receive the funds in their accounts upon their death. This simplifies the process, especially if no will is in place, as it avoids lengthy legal procedures.
You may nominate a person(s) of choice to receive your property presently up to a maximum value of €27,000, with any excess forming part of your estate. Nominations can be updated at any time and must be signed and witnessed by two people. If your nominee predeceases you, the nomination becomes invalid, so it's important to update it when circumstances change (e.g., marriage or separation).
Our staff can guide you through completing and witnessing the nomination form—just ask in the office.
*Limit increased to €27,000 as of 22 February 2024. Terms & Conditions Apply.
To open an account, you need to pay a €1 joining fee. This can be paid by cash or card in the office or over the phone with a debit/credit card once you have signed up to become a member.
You also need to make a €10 lodgement into your shares (savings account). You always need a minimum of €10 in your shares to keep your account with Donore Credit Union active.
In the case of accounts being opened on behalf of minors i.e. persons below sixteen years of age, proof of ID for the parent or guardian opening the account must be sought along with the minor’s Passport or Birth Certificate and PPS for the minor. (Proof of PPS number can be provided by showing a Social Service card or a letter from the department of Social and Family Affairs confirming their PPS Number).
In the case of accounts opened on behalf of minors, where there may not be documentation directly in their name, reliance on the proof of address of the parent or guardian will be made where such documentation and the minor’s birth certificate links them by name.
